Professor Edward Shorter, Chair of the History of Medicine Department at the University of Toronto, requested research on a variety of topics pertaining to Western culture, such as 19th Century food preparation processes, the use of leather in mainstream clothing, and changing aspects of social dance in relation to changes to sexuality, for various books and articles being written. An additional project involved the compilation of a resource list on the topic of anti-smoking advertising in North America during the 1940s and 1950s.

Sick KidsProfessor Chun Wei Choo of the Faculty of Information Studies at the University of Toronto required data analysis relating to grant application success rates for the recently-formed Research Institute Division of the Hospital for Sick Children. This was part of an analysis of the Research Institute’s matrix organizational structure.
